Cert II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems

This qualification is the key to unlocking the thriving Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry for electricians, plumbers, and apprentices. The Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems Course is designed for eligible tradespeople,providing industry-leading skills required to install airconditioning and heat pumps systems up to 18Kw across Australia.The UEE20120 Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems is a pre-requisite requirement for applying for the Restricted Refrigerant Handling License (RSS03) from ARCtick (Australian Refrigeration Council, https://www.arctick.org/refrigerant-handling-licence).

You will learn to:

  • Flare copper and install pipework
  • Solder join copper pipework
  • Pressurize pipework with dry nitrogen and test for leaks
  • Vacuum pipework to remove air and moisture
  • Add additional gas for longer pipe runs
  • Reclaim gas
  • Position, assemble and start up single-head split air-conditioning units and systems to a prescribed routine.

Industry experienced trainers will give you all the support you will need and with specifically designed smaller face to face classes it allows the trainers to have proper one-on-one time with all of the students. This course does not include competencies required for service, repair, maintenance, diagnostic/fault finding or the safe and proper installation of commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment.

The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to under go a combination of face to face workshops, practical training and assessment in a simulated environment and online learning. Upon completion of this training course, you will be able to install and decommission split air conditioning units and heat pump systems up to 18Kw. The course includes training that can be applied to, but not limited to, wall hung, floor and ceiling-suspended cassettes as well as ducted fan coil systems.

Entry Requirements

Electricians, plumbers and apprentices (2nd year and above).Non-trade persons with sufficient experience in the industry can also apply under RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning).
